  • Scuba will bring the bass-heavy sounds of his Sub:stance party to New York for a new residency on Saturday, August 13th, with help from Blk|Market Membership. A UK native, Scuba (formally known as Paul Rose) might be most well-known for founding Hotflush Records, the label that has released dubstep and related sounds from acts like Shackleton and Mount Kimbie. In Berlin he's also the mind behind Sub:stance, the quarterly bass night that takes over Berghain; the club's label Ostgut Ton released Scuba's Sub:stance mix CD early last year and the event will celebrate three years of existence at Berghain this weekend with the likes of FaltyDL and Mark Ernestus. For the New York residency launch next month, Scuba will command the main room along with UK artist Appleblim and Sub:stance co-founder Paul Spymania. Addison Groove, the juke-oriented project from Headhunter, will perform live. Also on hand is Steffi, the Panorama Bar resident DJ who released her debut album Yours & Mine on Ostgut Ton earlier this year. For those looking for a bit more emphasis on 4/4, she'll share the decks in the party's second room with Blkmarket's Taimur and Fahad. The party's location is TBA, and tickets are available here on RA.
