  • Moogfest will once again take place in venues across the city of Asheville, North Carolina, from October 28th to 30th. The annual event celebrates the life and work of Robert Moog, creator of the famed Moog synthesizer, who lived in Asheville for much of his life. Now in its second year in the city, the festival-spread across downtown venues, including the 6000-capacity Asheville Civic Center-will feature art exhibitions and sounds from across the spectrum of electronic music, with an emphasis on live producers and bands. The bill features a range of highly influential veteran artists, such as The Flaming Lips, King Crimson, Suicide and German electronic pioneers Tangerine Dream, who will be making an exclusive stateside appearance. A number of other bands with electronic leanings will perform, including Battles, Brandt Brauer Frick, STS9 and Holy Fuck, along with Canadian duos Crystal Castles and Chromeo. Matthew Dear will make an appearance, as will French outfit M83. Those looking to indulge in ambient abstractions will want to catch Tim Hecker and Oneohtrix Point Never. Other additions will be announced in the coming months.
