- Copenhagen Distortion will come to the German capital in May for a backyard/club/afterhours party featuring a pack of Kompakt artists.
- A slew of Kompakt artists, including Michael Mayer, Justus Kohncke and Matias Aguayo, have been lined up for a joint Copenhagen Distortion and Melt! event in Berlin on May 14th. OK, listen closely because this could potentially get confusing. Hellø Bærlin has been put together by Distortion, the "loosely orchestrated street and club festival" which takes place in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. For their first trip to Berlin they've hooked up with Melt! and Kompakt to put together an outdoor/indoor/afterhours fiesta that starts out at midday on Saturday May 14th on Gerichstrasse in Wedding. This first "backyard" portion of the party is free to enter and will feature a "live mixtape" sound installation, a champagne fishing contest, a giant octopus and techno choir singing the genre's hits a capella. The action will then shift down to the Stattbad venue on Gerichstrasse (22.00-07.00) before the whole thing ends up at Berlin underground favourite Renate from the early hours of Sunday morning. While it's unclear which act is playing at precisely which time or event, a huge selection of talent from the Kompakt label has been confirmed, including Mayer, Justus Kohncke and Matias Aguayo. Attendees can also look forward to sets from Shitkatapult's Daniel Meteo, Trouw's Patrice Baumel, Danish act Taragana Pyjarama and Khan at some point during the madness.
