  • Deadbeat will release his next LP, Drawn & Quartered, this June through his own label, BLKRTZ. Though many of his recent records have sported a more club-ready sound, Scott Monteith's music has had some fairly experimental moments, especially on his albums for ~scape. Drawn & Quartered shows him returning to this sparse production style, with five tracks that are heavy on atmosphere and light on kick drums, and each of which stretches past the 10-minute mark. It will be the first release on his new BLKRTZ label, a project Monteith says was partly inspired by ~scape's recent closure. The album features all new tracks from Deadbeat, including a new take on the B-side from his Vampire EP on Echocord, this time with horns from David Koch, AKA DeWalta. A few weeks ahead of the its release, Moteith will presumably showcase this new material at the Mutek festival in Montreal, where he'll play live with the visual artist Lillevan. Tracklist 01. First Quarter 02. Second Quarter 03. Third Quarter (The Vampire of Mumbai) 04. Fourth Quarter (Cala's House) 05. Plateau Quarter (Hope in Numbers) BLKRTZ will release Drawn & Quartered on June 20th, 2011.
