Modular Recordings boss Steve Pavlovic has compiled the lineup for this year's festival.
Modular Recordings founder Steve Pavlovic has been tapped to curate this year's annual Vivid Live music and arts festival.
Pavlovic has opted for a Modular-heavy roster across the 2011 schedule. In a little over one week, almost three-dozen musicians and visual artists will perform and exhibit at the Sydney Opera House, many of whom come from the Modular Recordings stable. Those set to appear include Melbourne residents Cut Copy, Architecture in Helsinki, Canyons and Bag Raiders, each of which will be performing at separate events. Meanwhile, longtime Modular associates The Avalanches will make their return to the club arena, performing a rare DJ set at an event that will also host the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Andee Frost.
As far as the non-Modular contingent goes, Sydney clubbers can catch sets from French electro duo 2 Many DJs and London disco jocks Horse Meat Disco on the festival's final weekend. On the visual arts front, Chris Cunningham, the director best known for his work with Björk and Aphex Twin, will be taking over the Opera Theatre with an audio-visual act. Meanwhile, DFA collaborator Gavin Russom's live show under his production guise The Crystal Ark will feature an array of custom built lighting installations that have been crafted by an extensive team of designers.
Vivid Live is set to begin on May 27th, and will carry on through to June 6th.
