  • Highlife, an offshoot of Huntleys & Palmers Audio Club, will once again take over the Glasgow School of Art next week. Highlife's musical remit is "future afro-beat", which over the past year has included performances by Comeme artist Rebolledo and Mim Suleiman, a Tanzanian-born artist who's collaborated in the past with Maurice Fulton. The upcoming birthday bash features esteemed UK bass music pioneer Shackleton. The media-shy producer established a cult following with experimental dubstep productions for Skull Disco, his now-defunct imprint with Appleblim, and with further releases on labels like Perlon. Shackleton's appearance in Glasgow will likely pick up where his 2010 Fabric mix and recent pair of EPs for Honest Jon's left off-with a heady combination of deep basslines and skeletal tribal percussion. Tickets for the Highlife 1st Birthday with Shackleton can be picked up here from RA Tickets.
