  • Whitechapel's Rhythm Factory will host part one of the Streets Of Beige birthday celebrations this weekend. To mark the occasion, the London promoters have snagged a live set by American artist Machinedrum. The highly prolific producer, real name Travis Stewart, has moved within underground circles for a decade, both as a solo artist and with his Hotflush-approved collaboration with Praveen Sharma, Sepalcure. Although he is a veteran of the album format, with longplayers for Merck and LuckyMe, it's his latest effort for Planet Mu, Room(s) that has piqued wider interest, and is already being tipped for end-of-year honours. The album is currently streaming over at Hype Machine, and Stewart will be airing some MPC-driven versions of the album's tracks during his set. The bash marks the first anniversary of the genre- and venue-hopping night Streets of Beige, and joining the Stateside headliner on Saturday will be rising UK funky talent Ossie, and the artist formerly known as 8Bitch, Nightwave. Part two of the birthday party takes place on the 30th at The Old Blue Last, with Kromestar vs Om Unit, Blue Daisy and Timewharp all on the bill. Tickets for the Streets Of Beige 1st Birthday Machinedrum Album Launch can be found right here with RA Tickets.
