  • UK techno veteran Surgeon will make a brief stateside visit this weekend, starting tonight in New York. Surgeon has long been a household name in techno circles around the world. For the past twenty years, he has developed a dark, uncompromising style, with a production catalog that spans a variety of influential record labels, including his own Counterbalance (which released most of his collaborations with Regis as British Murder Boys) and Dynamic Tension. The Birmingham artist has not been afraid to go digital in his DJing, and with the recent spread of dubstep, he has begun to incorporate syncopated rhythms into his sets. The weekend starts tonight with New York's Berghain and Panorama Bar party at the Bunker, where Surgeon's audio-visual set (its North American debut) will share the bill with Marcel Dettmann and Steffi. Tomorrow he'll make his debut at Smart Bar in Chicago, and his first set in the Windy City in more than five years. He'll return to New York on Monday for a Deep Space event at Cielo with Francois K.
