- The Hamburg producer will release his next LP through his own label, It's.
Richard von der Schulenburg, known more simply as RVDS, will release a full-length called Moments later this month.
RVDS is from Hamburg, and it shows: his music is moody and delicate in a way that calls Dial and Smallville to mind. He's been an active DJ in the city for years, most notably at the very intimate Golden Pudel Club, where he's held a residency since 2005. In terms of releases, he's always been a bit erratic, with two albums and a handful of 12-inches since 1999 as Richard, Richard von der Schulenburg and Top Banana Richard. Since 2008 he's also co-run It's, a small imprint which bluntly describes itself as "another label in the field of club music."
Moments shows a few different sides of Shulenberg. Some songs have an afterhours house vibe with a strong acid influence, others are more singer-songwriter inspired, led by Shulenberg's own vocals. A couple of beatless, atmospheric numbers are thrown in as well. Very subtle guest appearances come from fellow Hamburgers Lawrence and Dionne, who help out with the claps on "Pain."
