  • Canadian electronic festival Mutek is staging a series of parties in Barcelona this week, beginning tomorrow night at Discos Paradiso. Mutek have been using the Micro Mutek banner to stage small-scale, multi-venue events outside of their annual Montreal-based festival for the past few years. 2010 saw the team touch down in Barcelona for the first time, with a trio of parties in the city—and they will return for 2011 with an extended program over three consecutive days. Beginning early tomorrow evening (Wednesday 9th) with a Q+A session at Discos Paradiso on the subject of event and artist management and record labels, the night will also include parties at Miscelanea and Moog Club (The Suicide of Western Culture go A/V at the former, Vaghe Stelle and Frivolous play the latter). Thursday 10th's events will be in much the same form as the previous day: Hyperdub's Ikonika appears at both the Q+A at Discos Paradiso and the party at Moog Club, while Gramofono and Microfeel mix visuals and music at Miscelanea. Moving on the third and final day (Friday), acclaimed German producer Isolee will be among those appearing at the day's Q+A session and will go on to play at Nitsa later that evening alongside Innervisions' Dixon, Werk Discs boss Actress, and DJ Fra. Meanwhile, the early evening event at Miscelanea will take in a discussion panel that features Mutek's festival director Alain Mongeau, and A/V performances from Lucius Works Here & Oxlabb, and Boris Chimp 504.
