  • As a result of persisting noise complaints from nearby residents, Sydney bass institution Void will no longer take place at Oxford Sreet's Phoenix Bar. Void had called Phoenix home for almost four years. The night's entry to the Sydney scene in 2007 came at a time when, according to the promoters in a statement issued over Facebook, "a whole 20 people in Sydney knew what dubstep was." Since then, the Void organisers almost single-handedly brought the genre and its various offshoots to prominence in the city by hosting consistent stream of high-profile names. In its early years, the event showcased Sydney debuts from a slew of international artists, from the likes of Benga and Caspa to more underground names such as Loefah. In more recent months, they've enlisted Pinch, Kryptic Minds and Jakes to spin, while Digital Mystikz, Cyrus and N-Type will all play throughout the coming months. While Void finds a new home, they'll be hosting London DJ and producer Plastician at Club 77 with its famed Hijak rig in tow on Friday. Tickets to the gig are available right here on RA.
