  • Southport Weekender have revealed the first names for their 24th annual event, scheduled for May 6th through the 8th. Rather than their usual home at Southport in Pontins, the festival will take place at Mineheads Butlin's Resort—the festival's fifth venue yet in its nearly quarter-century history. According to a press release, the move was intended to make room for a bigger audience, with the massive indoor venue allowing for 1,500 more tickets to be sold. Like many of Southport's past events, the lineup blends big room crowd pleasers with DJs hand-picked for "the heads." Chicago native Derrick Carter headlines, along with fellow US house veteran Kerri Chandler. Dixon, Rub N' Tug, Joy Orbison and Motor City Drum Ensemble have all been billed as well. Deep house luminary Theo Parrish and London dub specialist David Rodigan both make return appearances. More pop-friendly acts include The Unabombers, DJ Spen and John "Jellybean" Benitez.
