  • Back To Basics will celebrate its 1000th party next Saturday, with US house veteran Kerri Chandler headlining. The Leeds club night is an undisputed institution of UK dance music history, and will notch up an additional milestone this year with its 20th anniversary, making it the country's longest running party. Back To Basics was conceived by Dave Beer and Alistair Cook in 1991 as the UK's golden era of rave and acid house was drawing to an end, and Beer has governed it through a variety of locations around Leeds since Cook's death in 1993. Initially focussing on more classic house sounds, Back To Basics is closely linked with UK luminaries like residents Ralph Lawson and Andrew Weatherall, as well as with new local talents like Burnski and James Barnsley. In terms of guests, Derrick Carter, Levon Vincent and Tensnake have all graced the Basics booth within the last year. Chandler will be the only international guest for the 1000th event. Also celebrating a 20th anniversary of sorts, Chandler's first record was released in 1991, and he has since been released on a myriad of labels, including his own Madhouse Records imprint. Revelers should expect various shades of house within Chandler's set, from deep and jacking, to soulful vocals and New York garage anthems. Chandler will be joined on the night by local jocks Buckley, James Holroyd, and Jon Woodall on support. Pre-sale tckets for Back To Basics 1000th Party with Kerri Chandler can be found right here from RA Tickets.
