- The Dutch DJ duo have put together the label's first next down tempo compilation.
Compost Records is set to kick off a new compilation series called Downbeat Selections, with the first edition coming from Dutch duo Rupert & Mennert.
Slow jams have always been a cornerstone of Compost Records, especially in the label's early days. Rupert & Mennert, a low-profile duo from the seaside city of Dan Held, have worked with this side of the Dutch imprint's catalog before, namely on the See the Sun mix from the beginning of this year. Fittingly entitled Ocean Beat, the new compilation weaves through low slung beats from from all eras of Compost's catalog, including cuts from Tosca, Zwicker and A Forest Mighty Black. Styles range from jazzy to Balearic, but the tempo stays below a cool 105 BPM. The collection will be available digitally later this month.
