  • The lineup for February's Playground Weekender festival has received a boost, with almost one dozen international artists added to the bill. Innervisions bosses Dixon and Âme top the second round announcement, both of whom will be stopping into the Big Top stage for a rare Australian performance. Berlin-based DJ/producer Ewan Pearson will return to Playground for the second year running, while Chicago house jock Derrick Carter will spin at the festival for the first time. Elsewhere on the bill, the melodic electronic hip-hop of Brainfeeder affiliate Lorn will be making its first Australian appearance, and English duo Mock & Toof will bring their throwback disco sounds to Australia for the first time since releasing their debut full-length Turning Echoes earlier this year. The second round acts will be joining a large international contingent. Earlier this year, leftfield artists Four Tet and Caribou were locked in as the festival's headliners, while Clive Henry, Heidi and Damian Lazarus make up the rest of the house and techno ranks. As per usual, Playground Weekender will go down in late summer at the Del Rio Riverside Resort, about one-and-a-half hours drive from Sydney, this time kicking off on February 17th.
