- The mastering mastermind's new collection features tunes by Benga, Coki, Skream and many more.
On December 13th, London-based cutting engineer Jason Goz will release a collection of the records he's mastered, entitled Swarf Pot.
Goz is the man behind Transitions, a small mastering studio in South London where many of dubstep's biggest artists go to have their records cut. Past clients include the likes of Skream, Burial, Mala, Loefah and Kode9, plus outliers like dub veteran Jah Shakah (AKA Zulu Warrior) and Austrian guitar experimentalist Christian Fennesz. "I just want to be the best cutting engineer in the world, it's that simple," says Goz. "It's not really a money thing. Obviously I want to earn money but more than that I want to be the best. You don’t see many cutting engineers in the club, but I do actually like the music. I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t."
Swarf Pot collects 21 of Transition's finest cuts, including previously unreleased tunes by Benga, Mr Lager and LD. The compilation will see release digitally and on double CD via Ringo Recordings, Goz's label which is named after his late canine companion, pictured on the cover.
