  • Canadian producer Matt Thibideau will release his debut album, Two Places, in January on Deep Data. Thibideau has been putting out records off and on since the late '90s, sometimes under his own name and sometimes as Coordinates, Altitude or Repair, his duo with his brother Mark. Many of his records have pushed a smooth and subtle tech house sound, pairing punchy beats with atmospheric backdrops. Two Places mostly follows this blueprint, but is by no means a collection of club tracks, with much of the album going for a downtempo or semi-ambient vibe. That said, two remixes by label boss René Breitbarth give DJs a bit more to work with. Two Places will be one of the few records on Deep Data by someone other than the label's founder. Breitbarth launched the imprint in 2008 as a digital platform for subtle club tunes, having been inspired by his summer DJ sets with Toby Deschamps at Club der Visionaere in Berlin. Since then he's produced all but one of the imprint's 20 EPs. Thibideau's album will the label's first full-length. Tracklist 01. Awakened 02. Two Places 03. Control 04. January Sync 05.
