  • Next month's Subsonic festival has announced its local acts, seeing a hefty batch of Melbourne and Sydney-based DJs joining the international guests on the lineup. Roughly two dozen Australian artists have been named so far. Mad Racket resident and RA podcast alum Simon Caldwell tops the local bill, while Beef Records bosses Shades of Gray will play one of their increasingly rare live sets. Future Classic associate Jimi Polar will bring a bagful of loopy techno records to the bush-bound festival, while Sydney stalwarts Dave Stuart, Trinity and Jordan Deck take to the decks as well. All of these acts join a robust cast of international performers. Kompakt boss Michael Mayer, who has become a regular on the Australian festival circuit since his first visit in the '90s, has been enlisted to headline alongside a variety of European and US-based artists. New York producer Telefon Tel Aviv will bring his bumpy techno style the Barrington Tops festival, while Highgrade-affiliated tech house duo Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner make their Australian debut. Tickets to Subsonic are available from RA Tickets.
