- The Hamburg producer's next album is all about one thing: cowbell.
German DJ and producer Remute will release an album next year called Cowbell Mania, which as its title suggests, is a concept album about cowbell.
Had it not been launched to pop culture status by a Saturday Night Live skit 10 years ago, the cowbell probably wouldn't mean much to most of us. But according to Remute, it's actually a "very versatile instrument" when used in electronic production. So versatile, in fact, that he was able to put it front and center on all 11 tracks of his new album. Like much of his catalog to date, Cowbell Mania will be self-released, this time on a new sub-label called Cool Cowboy Club, which is apparently reserved for only "the most twisted, wicked, ultra-outlaw tunes." As an odd little bonus, one copy of the album will be packaged with a "winning notification," which the buyer can send in to receive a real cowbell straight from Remute's studio.
