  • Benji B's Deviation club night will mark its 3rd anniversary this weekend, with the 2nd of two London birthday parties. The first bash earlier this month featured American turntablist J.Rocc as the special guest, and in keeping with the party's diverse music policy, the second edition will feature UK bass innovator Kode9 alongside Detroit house legend Theo Parrish. The last three years of Deviation have seen Benji B--who as of this week is taking over Mary Ann Hobbs' Experimental Show on BBC 1--bringing in a host of guests crossing bass music, hip hop and beyond, including Madlib, Floating Points, Dam Funk and Actress. This Saturday's affair, in collaboration with London's We Fear Silence, promises a "friends and family line up" that will inhabit both spaces of south London club Cable. Taking over Room 1 will be Kode9, a man whose influence on UK bass music can hardly be overstated, thanks to his own productions as well as releases on his esteemed Hyperdub imprint. Joining him in the main room will be Sound Signature boss Theo Parrish, who will likely spin an eclectic mix of hypnotic house and crate-digger gems spanning techno, disco, jazz and beyond. Rounding out the birthday proceedings will be the Non-Sense DJs, Moxie and Eglo's Alexander Nut in Cable's Room 2, while resident Benji B and host MC Judah will be doing their level best to fill the musical gaps. Tickets for We Fear Silence present Deviation 3rd Birthday Special can be found here on RA.
