  • Dutch collective Dekmantel have announced details of their new festival venture, Het Kabinet, to take place at Studio K at the end of this month. Established in 2007 with parties in Amsterdam spots like Paradiso, Studio 80 and Trouw, Dekmantel have championed the type of left-of-centre house represented by core artists San Proper and Juju & Jordash. The outfit branched out as both a booking agency and a record label last year, with both aforementioned artists notching up their own releases, the latter having just been remixed by Robert Hood for the label's Deep Blue Meanies single release. Het Kabinet's opening night will feature a trio of hotly-tipped UK bass artists. Joy Orbison's garage, house, and dubstep fusions will be complemented by Eglo virtuoso Floating Points and a live set of subheavy experimentation from Actress. San Proper will likely dust off recent jams such as "Sex Drive Rhythm" for his live show, and DJs Lefto, Cinnaman, Awanto 3, Lil' Vic & Danny de Funk will help fill the gaps over the club's three rooms. The following night will have a heavy slant on 4/4 styles and an extended running time, with the party going strong until 10am Sunday. Mathew Jonson's Het Kabinet appearance comes amidst a busy touring schedule for both his recent solo album Agents of Time, and his latest LP with his Cobblestone Jazz collective. Detroit figure Omar-S is lined up for a 3-hour DJ set, while fellow motor city native Recloose will fly in from his New Zealand base for a spot in the Room 2 booth. Also featuring in the second room will be the live premiere of the joint project between Juju & Jordash and German veteran Move D, plus live sets from young Belgian San Soda and Makam. Clone's Serge, local trio Casper Tielrooij, Jan van Kampen & Thomas Martojo, Tom Trago and Antal will also appear that night, while the daylight hours during the festival will showcase photography exhibitions, art installations and documentary screenings.
