  • Kompakt are ready to release the first album by Jatoma, a mysterious three-piece with hardly any material out so far. Very little is known about Jatoma at this point, besides the puzzling fact that their combined age is 68, with two members under 20. "Some think that one of the members is a famed producer amongst two genius teenagers," states their press release. "Other theories include that they are a side act for a highly-regarded band." Whatever the case may be, Jatoma debuted earlier this year on Kompakt's Total 11 with "Helix," a playfully experimental tune that blends electronic and acoustic sounds. Their self-titled album allegedly does the same, with 4/4 beats, hand claps and guitars off-setting such unconventional samples as "the cutting of carrots" and "cereal being poured into a bowl." The record is due in stores next month on vinyl and CD. Tracklist 01. Little Houseboat 02. Manipura 03. Dust in Wong 04. Alang Beach 05. Durian 06. Wood Face 07. Bou 08. Smoking Keys 09. Paper Lights 10. Permafrost 11. Helix 12. Ma10as 13. Luvdisc Kompakt will release Jatoma on November 9th, 2010.
