- The electronic singer-songwriter has a double-disc retrospective due for release this fall.
German singer, pianist and electronic artist Barbara Morgenstern is set to release a double-disc compilation of her own work, entitled Fan No.2.
Morgenstern has been making music in Berlin since the late '90s, putting out solo records on Gudrun Gut's Monika Enterprise and collaborating with artists like Thomas Fehlmann, Robert Wyatt and Pole. Her style is a kind of electronically enhanced indie rock, often with Morgenstern singing over her own electronic productions. Fan No.2 maps out her catalog in chronological order, beginning with selections from her debut album Vermona ET 6-1 and finishing with tracks from BM, her most recent full-length.
A bonus disc compiles her hard-to-find first EPs, Plastikreport and Enter the Partyzone, the latter of which has never been officially released. Three exclusive tracks are included as well: "Wegbereiter," a new mix of "Mountainplace" and Morgenstern's cover of "Blackbird" by The Beatles. All of the tracks have been remastered by Pole.
