- !K7 will release the synth-rock outfit's next album this fall.
Belgian indie group Goose have unveiled details for their next album, Synrise, set for release via !K7.
Since their debut in 2006, Goose have forged a sound that's heavily influenced by electronic music but follows a pop song structure. Their new record takes inspiration from artists like Vangelis, Philip Glass, Tangerine Dream and Giorgio Moroder, who influenced the band at a very early age through their film soundtracks. "In some ways the album is like a soundtrack for a movie that doesn't exist," says frontman Mickael Karkousse.
In producing Synrise, Goose limited themselves to a strictly live recording process. "Everything in dance music these days is so cut up with Ableton, with effects on everything and loads of plug-ins," says Karkousse. "We wanted to get away from all that." The choice of method was also a nod to Depeche Mode's 1981 debut Speak & Spell, which the group reportedly listened to each morning on their way to the studio.
The record features a guest appearance by Peaches, who lends her vocal talents to the title track. Album artwork comes from none other than Storm Thorgerson, the man behind the iconic sleeve for Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.
