  • London's Alpha-Ville collective will host their second annual festival next month with live performances from Actress and Pixel. Taking place from September 17-18 in East London, the event aims to bring together many different strands of live electronic music, from techno through to avant-garde sound design. Friday's showcase at the Whitechapel Gallery will be the one to attend for those purely interested in the music, with Actress and Subeena providing the more dance floor-oriented material on the night, and Scanner, The Boats and Skam stalwart Bola catering to fans of electronica and ambient. Saturday's festivities will take part in East London's Rich Mix arts centre, with the audio-visual action taking place in venue's cinema. Raster-Noton's Pixel will link up with Paris-based graphic designer Graphset for a performance based on Alpha-Ville's "visionary cities" concept, while additional sets will come from Gangpol & Mit, Zan Lyons and Nikka & Alba G. Corral. As it's billed as a "festival of digital arts and culture," expect there to be much more on offer than just live electronic music. Bristol's ESProjections will perform their live audio-visual mapping project, UCL's Bartlett School of Architecture will hold a showcase, while Choy Ka Fai and Jinhyuk Ko will both set up their respective installation work.
