- The heavy metal innovator will release his first electronic album on Ghostly this fall.
Ghostly International is set to release the first full-length by Pale Sketcher, a new project by Justin K. Broadrick.
At first glance, Broadrick's career seems dominated by heavy sounds; he got his start in seminal thrash metal band Napalm Death, spent the '90s in industrial metal group Godflesh and most recently formed Jesu, a three-piece that blends elements of shoegaze, post-rock and metal. But Broadrick has always had a knack for electronic production, as seen on his solo records as Final and his work with King Midas Sound's Kevin Martin as Techno Animal. This talent reared its head again on Jesu's 2007 album Pale Sketches, the group's most electronic effort yet. On his first album as Pale Sketcher, entitled Jesu: Pale Sketches Demixed, Broadrick continues to whittle down these tracks until there's hardly a trace of heavy metal left, resulting in eight cuts of deep and brooding electronic music.
