  • Novation have announced details of a new controller, Dicer, predominantly designed as a cue-point and looping unit for Serato Scratch Live. Compatible with any Scratch Live set-up, the USB-powered (single socket) Dicer ships in pairs, and allows for control over Scratch Live features such as cue point, loop roll and auto loop. As you can see from the above image and video below, Dicer has been designed to mount into the 45RPM adaptor hole on a Technics 1200 turntable or rest on the bottom right-corner of some Pioneer CDJ models. In fact, you could pretty much attach Dicer to any flat surface you fancied given that it's supplied with "Novation's removable DJ putty" for fastening. Although certainly Scratch Live-focused, Dicer also doubles as a standard MIDI device meaning users of Ableton Live and Traktor may also want to consider its merits—up to 60 MIDI assignments can be made via Dicer's shift functions. Novation will release Dicer late June/early July 2010 at a suggested retail price of $99/€99.
