  • DJ and producer Margaret Dygas is set to release her debut album, How Do You Do this fall on Powershovel Audio. Born in Poland, raised in California and currently based in Berlin, Dygas's talents are as varied as her home cities: photographer, ex-fashion student, producer and Panorama Bar resident. Her catalog to date is short and sweet, with just a handful of 12-inches on Perlon, Contexterior and Non Standard Productions, most of which balance dance floor utility with experimental flair. Given her dual love of visual art and 4/4 beats, it seems fitting that Dygas should release her debut album on Powershovel, a Japanese imprint that also sells, among other things, photography books and high-end cameras. "The lovely Jun, who takes care of the musical part in [Power Shovel], emailed me to ask if I'd be interested in this project," says Dygas. "They gave me three choices of what to base it on: a book, a film or a true story." Dygas went for the first option, selecting Desmond Morris's Peoplewatching, a zoology book about body language and innate human habits. "I was reading it sporadically since moving to Berlin," she says. "I got into reading it and looking at my experiences with new people, as well as looking at my own actions." Slated for release this September, How Do You Do will be packaged in a small book complete with 36 pages of Dygas's own photography. It will feature guest production work by Tobias Freund (AKA Tobias.), who worked with Dygas in the past on See You Around and mixed last year's "Frankly" at Non Standard Studios. Tracklist 01.
