  • TodaysArt hits The Hague image
  • The sixth annual TodaysArt festival is scheduled to take place this fall, with installations, performances and club nights taking over the The Hague's centre for one weekend in September. TodaysArt aims to focus on "barely existent forms of - and transdisciplinary relations between - art, music and technology which are relevant today." As a result, its billing is fairly experimental, with artists like Mika Vainio, Burnt Friedman and former Can drummer Jaki Liebezeit leading the charge. Ambient producer Klimek will play as well, and German artist Wolfgang Seidel will perform one of Conrad Schnitzler's famous Kassetten Konzert (as discussed in RA's recent feature on Further Records). Uwe Schmidt will appear twice, playing eclectic Latin covers as Senor Coconut and getting glitchy as Atom TM. On the more danceable front, Morphosis (AKA Ra.H) and Dutch producer Newworldaquarium will provide some forward-thinking house and techno beats. Much of TodaysArt will happen in public outdoor venues for free, but the indoor portions will come cheap, as the event prides itself as being one of the most inexpensive of its kind in the world. More artists are yet to be confirmed, so check back on the lineup in the weeks ahead.
