  • Unsure of your raving options this May 1st? Step right up. Aside from the firework dodging madness that is New Year's Eve, May Day undoubtedly represents the most anticipated single day in the Berlin clubbing calendar. Weather permitting, it's the day on which venue's throw open their garden spaces for another summer, and the windows of McDonald's take an anarchist-administered pounding. Traditionally the two key daytime spots are Club der Visionaere and Bar 25—the latter of which will keep their party ticking over from Thursday April 30th until Tuesday 4th May this year, with residents such as Philip Bader, Dirty Doering and Beaner joining unannounced guests beside the Spree. Although details of CDV's line-up are unconfirmed at this stage, know that Cassy, Zip and Ricardo Villalobos all appeared last year, which should give you an indication of the tier of DJs to expect. A club that have of course announced their DJs is Berghain. May 1st will signal the re-opening of their garden space and almost a full compliment of residents—Prosumer, Tama Sumo, nd_baumecker, Nick Höppner, Marcel Dettmann, Len Faki, Shed, Marcel Fengler, Boris, Norman Nodge—are set to spin. It's also worth mentioning that Pépé Bradock, KiNK and Neville Watson will be the guests later that evening upstairs in Panorama Bar. Tresor will also be opening their outdoor area for the first time this summer; Leyk, Stuff and DJ Kriek supply the sounds. One event proving popular among RA members is Arena Club's Burlesque Musique Night for which attendees are being encouraged to dance to the likes of Nôze, Catz N' Dogz and AKA AKA in pirate costumes. Venture a little deeper into Kreuzberg and Kleine Reise, which has gained itself a steady following in the early stages of 2010, will celebrate May Day by taking things outside and into the surrounding Spreewaldplatz. Frivolous, Mano Le Tough and Moustache Mamas guest. And for the best view of all the chaos unfolding across the city, Weekend dust off their roof space, with Detroit forces Carl Craig, Stacey Pullen and Monty Luke all jetting in from The Motor City.
