  • LEV festival will take place this year between April 30 and May 1 in the northern Spanish coastal city of Gijon. Beginning their quest to mesh audio with visual back in 2007, the annual LEV gathering (or Laboratorio de Electronica Visual) has emerged out of the shadows cast by larger Spanish events to represent a viable way in which to open your European festival account for the summer. Attendees can look forward to events in churches, theaters and factories for 2010, and a program that brings together a nicely manageable selection of DJs, live acts and exhibitions. Mo Wax man DJ Krush and Hotflush's Mount Kimbie represent the obvious day one highlights, while the latter imprint will again come under further the spotlight the following evening with label chief Scuba set to perform live. Fellow Brit in Berlin, Shackleton, will also be emitting bass heavy beats in the live format, as will Warp mainstays Plaid who set up for a special "Live Classics AV" show for the first time in Spain. There'll also be plenty of extra curricular activities--most notably a Raster-Noton workshop hosted by the label's Carsten Nicolai, Olaf Bender and Frank Bretschneider, who will also play on the Saturday night as Signal alongside fellow envelope pusher Ben Frost.
