Amp Fiddler returns to London

- The Detroit-based artist will play his first show in the city since 2007 at East Village next month.
- East Village have planned an evening of entertainment straight from the 313 on Friday April 9th, featuring a headlining set from Amp Fiddler. Amp—real name Joseph Anthony Fiddler—is a real legend of Detroit's underground music scene. Not only did he become keyboard player co-producer in George Clinton's legendary Parliament/Funkadelic ensemble, but he's also a celebrated solo artist in his own right, conjuring up a rich neo-soul sound with plenty of jazzy flourishes. The party will be his first London appearance since 2007, and will see him perform a 45-minute long PA set that is set to take in some of his classic material as well as material from his forthcoming album, including his "When The Morning Comes" collaboration with fellow Detroit producer Alton Miller. Miller was one of the first people to push house music in Detroit, and helped to open the city's seminal Music Institute club alongside Chez Damier and Derrick May in the late-'80s. His release catalogue also reads like a who's who of the Detroit scene, with his deep house tracks finding homes on KDJ, Moods & Grooves, Planet E, Soul City, Cyren, M3, Serious Grooves and KMS. He's another Detroit act that is rarely over in the UK—last playing here in May '08—so fans should be glad to hear that he'll also be playing an extended DJ set in the basement. East Village resident Stuart Patterson will join the Detroit duo as support, while Toni Blackbeard and Jimbo will mix up classic soul, funk, disco and jazz in the upstairs of the club.
