  • This May, the Dissonanze Festival will return to Rome for its tenth straight year of avant-garde performance and electronic revelry. The first night of the festival will take place at Chiostro del Bramante, a classy Roman cultural center. The lineup is decidedly experimental, with Ben Frost headlining a bill of esoteric artists like Black Fanfare and Nico Vascellari among others. Later that night, New York DJs Tim Sweeney and Rub N Tug will get the party vibes flowing at an unconfirmed location. On Saturday, Dissonanze resumes at its most impressive venue: The Palazzo dei Congressi, an enormous marble structure in the hilltops of Rome. Jeff Mills, Seth Troxler, Joris Voorn and Pantha Du Prince will commandeer its massive hall, while Shackleton and Martyn bring their advanced dubstep beats to the venue's foyer. Meanwhile, on the terrace, Jamie Lidell and Gil Scott Heron will provide the evening's wildcard performances. Dissonanze wraps up on Sunday, May 23rd with an avant-garde event at Ara Pacis. Edwin van der Heide will deliver his Laser Sound performance, and Quayola will give an audio-visual presentation, first in the auditorium, then out on the terrace after nightfall. Stay tuned in the weeks ahead as the final acts for Dissonanze are confirmed.
