  • Sonic Groove will stage label showcases in New York and Berlin next month. It was way back in 1990 that brothers Adam X and Frankie Bones first threw open the doors of their Brooklyn-based vinyl outlet, Groove Records. The pair may have gone on to pick up a third member of the team (Heather Heart), rename the store (Sonic Groove) and begin a highly successful imprint of the same name, but throughout the 20 year journey, techno has always remained the integral component of their operation. In order to mark the milestone, the trio will reunite (the store closed its doors back in 2004, while X continues to take care of the imprint) for shows in New York and Berlin that will draw into sharp focus the ongoing exploits of the Sonic Groove label. Starting out in New York on April 17, X, Bones and Heart will be joined at an unconfirmed location by Dasha Rush and Abe Duque in the main room, who will both set up shop for their respective live shows. Over in room two meanwhile, veteran NY selector Reade Truth will be supported by Dietrich Schoenemann, Jon Turi, Dan Physics and Juan Gavaria. Come Saturday April 24 it will be Berlin's turn to feel the groove, as the city's Maria am Ostbahnhof venue welcomes the aforementioned trio, plus Canadian live duo and recent Sonic Groove contributor Orphx. The pair—real names Christina Sealey and Richard Oddie—will in fact be the next act to release on the imprint, following up on last year's well-received Division EP. Black Light will see a release in the first week of April, and will be followed at the end of the month by an EP from Pennsylvanian producer REALMZ.
