  • This Friday will see the second installment in a new series of techno parties at Crobar Studio in Buenos Aires. Beginning with last Saturday's party featuring Alex Under, Crobar's Saturday night booking is now handled by Adolfo Cortes, the driving force behind Cocoliche, one of Buenos Aires' finest techno spots. This Friday, Cortes has arranged a special one-off event at Crobar featuring Apparat, Ismael Pinker and Dilo. He explains that "The main goal is to update the club with the global scene, and have as solid programming as any other club in Europe, the USA or Asia could have." As with Cocoliche, the ethos at Crobar's new parties will be somewhat hedonistic. Cortes says that the direction for the programming of the parties will be to, well, party: "I'll book well-known and not-so-known artists that I already know like to party hard!" With another recent crackdown in licensing by the local government, this is a welcome addition to the Buenos Aires' club scene. "[It's] an opportunity to let the scene grow," Cortes claims. "We can't keep living in a city without good options. The only club with good programming is Cocoliche, and it's a club for 300 people. The rest of the clubs here have what I call random programming, they don't look after a concept or a certain sound, its all about opportunities and business, so maybe one day they're playing trance, the next house, minimal, techno, hard techno, drum and bass, etc, etc. So I'd like to programme in Crobar all the things I could never do in Cocoliche due to our small budget." Some future performers lined up for Crobar include Seth Troxler, Matthias Tanzmann, D'Julz, SIS, Minilogue, Sven Vath and many more. For his show this Friday night, Berlin-based producer Apparat will treat the Beunos Aires crowd to a live set with visual accompaniment by preeminent VJ Pfadfinderei. Local jock Ismael Pinkler will warm up, and Dilo will close the night.
