  • Horse Meat Disco are set to return to Sydney, playing a Sunday set at this weekend's Picnic Social event. The HMD crew have been regulars on the London disco circuit for most of the past decade, hosting weekly parties in the capital city. After spending several years catering exclusively to English crowds, resident DJs Jim Stanton, James Hillard, Filthy Luka and Severino took the Horse Meat Disco ethos on the road, taking on regular intercontinental slots. Fellow Picnic Social headliner Greg Wilson has been a regular international traveler since the early '90s, gaining fame for his signature approach to disco edits. Golden Bug, though the party’s freshest face, is no stranger to Sydney clubbers. He's released several tracks through local imprint Bang Gang 12-Inches, and provided remixes for local act Lost Valentinos. We caught up with Golden Bug last week to chat about his relationship with Bang Gang, why he splits his time between Barcelona and Paris, and his own Silicon Square Garden label.
Firstly, how did you get in touch with Jamie and co. over at Bang Gang 12-Inches? I initially did few remixes for Bang Gang artists like Lost Valentinos and G.L.O.V.E.S. A few months after I sent Jaime some tracks and we decided to do the Assassin EP. You divide your time between Barcelona and Paris – why is that? I spend most of my time in Barcelona where I have my studio, but I often go to Paris to play parties and see my family and friends. I decided to move down to Barcelona for a change, and to meet new people. First it was for one year, but I decided to stay more. Can we expect anything out on Silicon Square Garden in 2010? Yeah, of course. Aurelien Haas, AKA Rove Dogs, will release some new 12-inches on SSG, and I will do some remixes and at the same time. Aurelien created Small Time Cuts, his re-edit label, with covers designed by Trevor Jackson himself. You're co-headlining the Sydney leg of your tour with the Horse Meat Disco duo and Greg Wilson – have you caught those guys in action? No, but I am sure it will be fantastic. Finally, could we please grab your current top five? Get A Room – Dreamer Botox – Blue Steel Golden Bug – Flamingo Pete Herbert Remix) Disco Disorder – Zusammen Inflagranti – Exexex (Bottin Remix)
