  • Soundwave Festival will host its second annual event in the coastal Croatian village of Petrcane from July 23-25. Funk, soul, downtempo beats and hip-hop were the backbone of Soundwave's music policy for their inaugural festival last year, and that theme is set to continue into 2010 with scheduled appearances from Los Angeles-based funk and boogie aficionado Dâm-Funk, and turntablists DJ Vadim and DJ Format. Ninja Tune stalwarts The Cinematic Orchestra will certainly make the most of Petrcane's lush weather and scenery with their particular brand of electronic jazz, while notorious chill out purveyors Zero 7 will take to the turntables for one of their semi-regular DJ appearances. Revellers looking for something a little more dance-friendly are also catered for, with Alexander Nut, Illum Sphere, dEbruit, Bullion, Paul White, Lone and Blue Daisy sure to win over fans of the wonkier end of the dubstep and instrumental hip-hop scene, while Bristol bass don Rob Smith will appear twice; once under his dubstep moniker RSD, and again with Ray Mighty and Peter D. Rose as Smith & Mighty.
