  • Barcelona's Sónar Festival has booked two events in London at the end of this week, each featuring big names in electronic music as well as participants in this year's Red Bull Music Academy. Sónar and Red Bull have been known to work together in the past. When Sónar took over Barcelona last summer, Red Bull had an event to themselves, so this year they returned the favor with A Taste of Sónar. The first event, on Friday, March 5th, will feature underground hip-hop's masked eccentric, DOOM, AKA MF DOOM, AKA Viktor Vaughn. He'll have DJ support from none other than Matthew Herbert, the deep house innovator whose 2000 release Letsallmakemistakes made #17 on our top 100 mixes of the '00s. Also on the bill are UK funky maestro Roska, Lex DJs and an audio-visual performance by Ryoichi Kurokawa. Meanwhile, the Red Bull Music Academy Presents Studio Theatre Stage will feature live sets by Bruna, Lunice, Katy B and Juan Son, plus DJ sets by Space Dimension Controller and kidkanevil. House and techno veteran Laurent Garnier will play live the following night, topping a bill that also includes genre-bending beat scientist Four Tet. They'll be joined by breakout house act John Talabot and a "laser sound" performance by Edwin Van der Heide. Over at the RBMA stage, Hudson Mohawke, AD Bourke, Ango and Monosyllabic will play live, with Cherry Chan and Infestus set to man the decks. Advance tickets to this event can be purchased at RA tickets.
