  • The Red Bull Music Academy will hold two days of workshops, lectures and club events in Manchester next weekend. Although this year's RBMA is being held in the English capital, the kind souls at the Music Academy have decided to venture north the weekend before the first London events take place for a special event at the multi-roomed Deaf Institute venue on Friday 29th January. Kicking off at 2pm, there will be multiple workshops for budding producers and musicians to refine their knowledge before electronic luminaries Marshall Jefferson and A Guy Called Gerald take to the mic for each of their hour-long lectures in the club's main music hall. The duo will follow these with separate performances, with Jefferson showcasing his Chicago house stylings on the decks, and Gerald performing one of his genre-hopping live sets. Bassy UK house act Hot City will lead the charge in the bar, but those looking for more of a wonky dubstep sound should head to the following day's event at Common, which will host sets from dÉbruit and the hotly tipped Mount Kimbie. Both of these events are free, although people arriving to the Friday's Deaf Institute party after 10pm will have to pay a £5 entry charge.
