  • Al Kent will release a double disc compilation of rare disco and soul tracks later this month. Kent originally started his musical career producing house tracks alongside Darrell Banks and a young Milton Jackson on labels such as Tronicsole, but the turn of the decade saw him refocus his attentions to one of his earlier musical loves: Disco. His Million Dollar Disco label featured plenty of his edits and sample-heavy house, taking inspiration from his sizable collection of vintage classics and obscurities, but Kent wasn't happy doing this alone, and finally formed his own disco band under the name of The Million Dollar Orchestra for 2007's Better Days album. His forthcoming compilation on BBE—entitled Disco Love: Rare Disco & Soul Uncovered—sees him retreat to his beloved rack of wax to select and mix fifteen of his favourite lesser known tracks from the heyday of the genre, most of which are Kent's own exclusive edits. Black Rock, Crosstown Traffic, Patricia White and Quinn Harris are amongst the artists that have gone under the knife, and also the DJs out there haven't been forgotten, as the compilation will come with a supplementary unmixed disc. Digital buyers will also receive an added bonus of four exclusive tracks. Tracklist CD1 (Mixed): 01. Black Rock - New York City Bump 02. Smile Street People - Lypso Disco 03. Sweet Daddy Floyd - I Just Can't Help Myself 04. Tommorow's People – Let's Get With The Beat 05. Patricia White - Cosmic Disco 06. Crosstown Traffic - Love Your Family 07.
