  • Emerson Todd will release his first commercial mix CD next month. The Sydney-based New Zealander has enjoyed a rise in profile over the last couple of years, releasing tracks on both Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird and Sven Vath's Cocoon imprints (the latter alongside English producer and engineer Tim Green), but Todd is a DJ first and foremost, holding down residencies for Lost Baggage and Pulse Radio as well as clocking up an increasing amount of international gigs. Melbourne's EQ Recordings label have been well positioned to chart his rise from local favourite to international player, and have selected Todd to mix up the latest edition of their Electric compilation series. While EQ's Balance brand showcases more established names, the purpose of Electric is to shine some more light on new talent, with Emerson following on from the likes of King Unique, Gavin Keitel and Nubreed. Rolling tech-house is the general theme running throughout Electric 05, with tracks from DJ Sneak, Gavin Herlihy, Mountain People, Guy Gerber and Mannheim houser Robert Dietz featuring alongside two new cuts from Emerson himself.
