  • The NYC techno institution will host a showcase of Berlin's seminal Chain Reaction imprint this Friday. The Bunker has steadily become one of New York's most essential parties for fans of underground electronic music, offering a chance to see some of the best DJs from around the world in the dark and intimate surroundings of Public Assembly. A shift at the beginning of 2009 to a more manageable monthly schedule has meant that resident and promoter Spinoza can be a little more selective in the guests that he puts on, and this weekend's party is no different. The back room will be dedicated to the dub techno sound of Berlin in the '90s, with DJ Pete (AKA Substance) and René Löwe (AKA Vainqueur) set to both play individual DJ sets as well as appearing live together under their Scion moniker. Their solo and collaborative productions stand out as some of the highlights of the Chain Reaction back catalogue, and hardcore fans of classic German techno are sure to lap up their extended session. (Spinoza and fellow Bunker resident Derek Plaslaiko will also share the decks with Pete and René.) That's not all, however: Bunker favourite Daniel Bell will make his long awaited return to the party in the front room, taking to the decks for a luxurious four hour set. Bell has made no bones about his love for playing at the club, choosing The Bunker as the place to debut his live return last year. Completing the bill is hometown house hero and Underground Quality affiliate Fred P, who'll be inevitably treat the crowd to a selection of deep and grooving jams.
