  • Groove Magazine will commemorate twenty years of operation with a series of parties spread out across Germany. As with their previous annual mini-tours, Groove have used their position as Germany's most widely distributed electronic music monthly to lure of host of sizeable names to the events, which kick off at Munich's Alte Kongresshalle on Friday November 6th. Berlin Calling star Paul Kalkbrenner will headline with a live PA, while Roland Appel and the duo behind local imprint Permanent Vacation will supply their own melodically rich takes on house and disco in support. Matias Aguayo and Nôze will also showcase their own oddball takes on electronic dance music before travelling to Groove's second leg at Frankfurt's Robert Johnson club the following evening. The club's two dancing spaces will be opened up for the party, giving room for James Holden and Apparat to trance out the main floor while Running Back's Gerd Janson takes over the other area with the help of Tensnake and Radio Slave. The Berlin date at WMF on November 19th is arguably the most star-studded of the four even though it takes place on a Thursday night. The evening will begin with a specially commissioned live soundtrack to Walter Ruttmann's Berlin: Die Sinfonie der Großstadt silent movie from Ricardo Villalobos, Moritz von Oswald and Max Loderbauer, before the event forks into a techno focused main room and a housier second floor: Wighnomy Brothers, Radio Slave, DJ Koze and a live set from Die Vögel occupy the former, while the latter will be soundtracked by Ostgut Ton's Nick Höppner, Ewan Pearson, Prosumer and The Cheapers. There's a few weeks break until the final bash at Hamburg's Übel & Gefährlich, which sees local label bosses Lawrence, Solomun, Julius Steinhoff and Eurokai battle it out in the tower room, while Modeselektor, Ben Klock and Kode9 (along with frequent collaborator Spaceape) get the main room shaking with their mix of bass-heavy techno and dubstep.
