  • Force of Nature's KZA is set to release his first solo full-length later this month. Of the duo, KZA is often considered to be the one with the enviably large record collection spanning the last fifty years, and it's this that has helped to shape the sound of the record, which is suitably titled Dig And Edit. KZA went through his collection to try and find hundreds of obscure samples that he could use for the album, before taking the raw materials to the studio with Kuniyuki (AKA Koss) to assemble them into something new. The album isn't just your usual edits release, however, with plenty of studio trickery and drum programming added to the original sounds and loops. The final sound of the release could easily be compared to recent Force Of Nature material, although Dig And Edit seems much more willing to wear its retro essence on its sleeve, with rock, jazz and disco samples often taking the front seat for most of the tracks. Mule Musiq's Endless Flight sub-label will issue the standard release, but oki-ni.com have teamed up with them to construct thirty limited edition box sets, which will be sold through their website. The sets include a copy of the album and 12-inch sampler as well as a t-shirt, badge and exclusive disco mix compiled by KZA himself, although the packages are limited to just thirty copies. Tracklist 01. Aneugalam 02. Capricorn 03. Gotheenergy 04. On&On&On 05. Unfaithful 06. Communication Satellite 07. Transaction 08. Electronic University 09. Routine 10. Open Up (Slow Version) Endless Flight will release Dig And Edit on October 19th, 2009.
