  • As per usual in Sydney come December 31st, eclecticism is the order of the day. Techno, house and electro tastes have all been well catered for, with over a dozen Brits and Europeans choosing the warm Australian sun over the Northern Hemisphere winter. Throw in some outdoor dubstep, breaks and electro for good measure, and another typically diverse Sydney New Year is on the horizon. In the house department, Australian debutant Pépé Bradock headlines Mad Racket's bash at the Marrickville Recreation Centre, supported by the familiar cast of Mad Racket residents, with recent podcaster Simon Caldwell and Ken Cloud out in front. The CBD will be hosting Swedish House Mafia man Sebastian Ingrosso, Dirtybird boss Claude VonStroke and South African duo Goldfish for a one-off Pacha event at The Ivy. On the progressive front, Chinese Laundry is hosting Danny Howells and Australian-expat Anthony Pappa for a Renaissance–themed bash, while at Home Nightclub, the Summanights brand is set to make its Sydney debut, seeing Sharam, Eddie Halliwell, Josh Wink and Mark Knight cast as headliners. Techno will be taken care of by arguably some of the biggest in the business; Carl Cox and Danny Tenaglia headline Bondi Beach's annual Shore Thing night, backed up by big room house luminary Roger Sanchez. The best view of the famous Sydney Harbour fireworks will be from Luna Park, where Pendulum, Ian Carey and Sinden headline Harbour Party. Post-3 AM, Ripperton and Matthias Meyer will board the Spice Afloat Cruise, kicking on well into New Year's Day. New Year's Day sees electro top the bill at Field Day at the Domain, with the Sydney premiere of 2 Many DJs' live show, as well as diverse DJ sets from LCD Soundsystem, Sinden, Nic Fanciulli and Riton. Dubstep and breaks will also make a rare festival appearance, with Skream, Benga and Krafty Kuts also set to appear at the annual event. More fun in the sun will take place at the Entertainment Quarter, with Space Ibiza's 20th Anniversary Party. Tiefschwarz, Derrick Carter and Christian Burkhardt headline the brand's Australian debut, with a host of locals in support.
