  • Tresor Records will celebrate 18 years in business early next month with a two-night extravaganza of punishing techno at Tresor. The club and record label have been a mainstay of German techno since the early '90s. The timing couldn't have been better for the club to begin: Taking in East Berliners soon after the Berlin Wall fell down, it quickly became one of the major players in the city's scene. The original club, located under Wertheim department store, closed in 2005, but the brand returned two years later with a converted power plant space in Mitte, and a devoted audience. It was a fan base that was stoked largely because of the unrelenting techno emanating from its associated record label which has put out material from the likes of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Surgeon, Octave One and more. Those fans will pay tribute to the club and label in early October when Tresor regulars such as Blake Baxter, Abe Duque, Remute, Oscar Mulero, Pacou and many more take to the stage. Duque and Baxter will play a live set on Friday, 2 October, while the highlight of the subsequent night will be Mulero's release party for his new CD.
