  • Luciano, Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos will be among those appearing at the 2009 edition of Movement Torino. Detroit and Torino? Although they may be over 4,000 miles apart, and perhaps sit culturally even further afield, the two have come to share the common musical bind that is the annual pilgrimage of techno: Movement Festival. Once again the Italian leg of the event will be held over two nights at the end of October in the colossal Palaolimpico Isozaki, with a selection of headlining acts that more than measure up to the scale venue. Friday's fun centers around the festival friendly sounds of Cadenza boss Luciano, alongside Movement founder and general techno ambassador Derrick May. There'll also be live performances to look forward to from cosmic UK duo A Mountain of One and Motel Connection, while the DJ meat will be constituted from Phil Weeks, Chris Carrier, Hugo, Sten (IT) and Gambo. We advise saving some in the tank for Saturday, however, as the twin peaks of Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos will be picking up the reins of the headlining slots. The Detroit connection is cemented through appearances from Motor City residents Stacey Pullen and Mike Huckaby, while DJs Krakatoa, Didier Alline, Danny Fiddo, Vasta and Frola lend the necessary support.
