  • Motor City Drum Ensemble is set to headline Asylum's sixth birthday bash later this month. The Leeds-based party crew have been actively promoting in the city since 2003, mixing up headlining guests from the house, techno and disco spheres, showing a real reluctance to pigeonhole themselves. Carl Craig, Danny Krivit, Henrik Schwarz, Luciano, Kerri Chandler, Theo Parrish, Prins Thomas and Metro Area are just some of the artists that they've hosted over the past six years, and the big-name underground bookings aren't set to stop for their birthday celebrations, which take place at the city's much-lauded Mint Club on Saturday 26th September. Danilo Plessow will bring his DJ bag full of house and disco anthems to the night's prime time slot, and will no doubt be airing plenty of his own loop-heavy Motor City Drum Ensemble productions. The support slot will go to the act that inspired the Asylum promoters to get started in the city. Their Electric Chair night may have gone out with a bang, but The Unabombers will be carrying on the spirit of their basement parties with a set that will no doubt be as dance floor-focused as it will be eclectic. Asylum residents PBR Streetgang, Negghead and Andy Whittaker will round off the line-up, which looks to be an essential night out for the house and disco aficionados of Yorkshire.
