  • Next month will see the launch of Berlin's Club Contemporary Classical festival, which will take place at the city's Berghain club. The event, which also goes under the C3 tag, was conceived in order to showcase the links between new classical music and club culture in the city, and should come as no surprise seeing as the club has already collaborated with Berlin's Staatsballett on their Shut Up And Dance! Updated compilation. As the venue is already booked up for standard parties over the weekend, this means that the festival will take place from Tuesday 8th September through to Thursday night. Tuesday's opening party will see Dutch audio/visual composer Jacob TV play a tonal piece peppered with spoken word samples, while Brandt Brauer Frick will offer a more dance floor-friendly option. The group is a collaboration between Paul Frick and both members of Scott, and the trio will be proving that you don't need any synthesised instruments to make house and techno music. London's celebrated Elysian Quartet will play on Wednesday, while the final night will match up pianist Kathleen Supové with the more electronic stylings of Jeff Mills and Stefan Goldmann. Mills has previously worked with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Montpellier and Goldmann recently edited Stravinsky's Le Sacre Du Printemps, but it is unclear what exactly they will perform at the final C3 event.
