  • London superclub matter have announced details surrounding their first birthday celebrations. Was it really a year ago matter first flung open their doors? On September 19th 2008, the team behind esteemed Farringdon venue Fabric first gave us a taste of what it would be like to party in the O2 Arena. A cast-list of internationally renowned clubbing brands taking up residence, along with a base of astute in-house promotions have since established a core following for the club, and ensured that the first year in business was a successful one. On Saturday 19th September, matter will blow out the candles on their first birthday cake, and have invited UK heavyweight Carl Cox to lead them in celebration with an extended set. Joining the veteran on the night will be another internationally lauded performer Josh Wink, with matter resident Paul Woolford providing the support role. Room 2 meanwhile will boast another seasoned pro, Greg Wilson, who will make his debut at the venue. Jedi Knight Tom Middleton and ASBO’s Riotous Rockers complete the line-up. "It’s great that Carl will be back with us for the 1st birthday," said matter's promotions manager Will Harold. "It’s so much fun to watch him perform, I can’t think of anyone better for a night like this. Plus he’ll be best placed to see how much the venue’s evolved in our first year: We’ve had the chance to really work on the sound system and iron-out a lot of the imperfections. And, we have a really special stage show planned for the night." The anniversary also brings about some much needed good news on the logistics front for the club: The on-going improvements to the Jubilee line which services the nearby North Greenwich will officially be at an end, putting a stop to the pesky travel disruptions which have plagued the venue for the last 12 months. And, to even further sweeten the birthday deal, September will see the introduction of a spanking new VIP balcony and smoking garden area for the club. RA Tickets will be exclusively offering a batch of 50 early bird tickets at the knocked-down rate of £15.
